Brett Favre’s supposed cracked rib

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp09/news/story?id=4434939

Something inside of me says this is yet another media stunt by the attention craving Brett Favra.  Saying he believes he has an injury, that is of course not listed on the injury report, gives him two benefits.  He either looks heroic if he has success despite it or he can fall back on it as an excuse if he tanks it again like last week.  Someone needs to deflate this guy’s ego.  Hopefully that someone is Briggs or Urlacher!

Apparently Doug Dascenzo didn’t rule?!?

So, on that note…is he a first or second ballot HOF’er?

Going to Wrigley twice this year!

So last year, I literally never got into the waiting room to buy Cubs tickets, but this year I am in for two games!  I am pretty pumped about it, this is going to be a good summer I can feel it.  I am going to the June 14th  game against the Twins (bleachers) and the August 28th game against the Mets (upper deck infield box).  Should be a great time as always!

2008 Chicago Bears Eliminated

I guess I am not too surprised.  The bears love to finish seasons just well enough to get a crap draft pick and still not make the playoffs.  Bright spots are Forte looks amazing for the future, Grossman should be gone by next season, and some of the younger additions to our secondary have promise going forward.  Sad things are that the Bears likely think Orton is the quarterback of the future and will not go out and find a real starter, no playoffs, Urlacher is developing a pretty bad attitude, and our d-line has ceased to exist.  Here’s to what the season could have been and to a good season in 2009.  Could be worse, they could be the Lions.

One more thing.  Mike Brown will probably be done after this year, but I will keep hoping the guy comes back for another year or at least stays involved with the organization in some way.  This guy is has the attitude you’d like to see in all players.

Bears / Colts 09/07/2008 - Colts Fumble On Kickoff Return Terrible Call

The replay shows it is clearly a fumble, there was no disputing that.  The reasoning provided was because they could not tell who had the ball at the bottom of the pile.  Garret Wolfe came up with the ball when the pile cleared, but apparently they have to tell who has it at the bottom or they give it back to the offense???  Sounds like a load of crap to me.  I was always under the impression that if you can’t see the bottom of the pile, which you usually cannot, it goes to whoever comes out with the ball.

ESPN Fantasy Spin

So I am a pretty big fan of the ESPN fantasy sports in general, but I have got a gripe.  This is probably something that is done on other sites as well, but I have specifically noticed it all the time on ESPN.

Every year in fantasy baseball there are players that overachieve early in the season and players who underachieve.  This is usually an ideal time to “buy low” on the underachiever or “sell high” on the overachiever.  However, thanks to ESPN making comments like “Now that he’s hurt, the time to sell Wellemeyer high may be passing” it is virtually impossible to pull one slick trades off at the right moment.  The best is when they encourage you to sell high in their fantasy spin.  Thanks, you just told anyone that I offer this guy to they are getting screwed.  I just wish they would ease up on the sell high and buy low comments.
